This could only happen to us.

Let me start out with this, you know those people who always pick the right lines to get into at a store. The ones that always seem to go super fast, well we are not those people. We are always the ones to pick the wrong lines and the ones that take the longest. We now laugh about it and say that God is teaching us extra patience.

Did everyone have a great Valentines Day? I sure hope so. We have a story that we will laugh about for probably the rest of our lives. As we were pulling into the drive way after our interesting evening Frank looked over and me and said "this could only happen to us." I will start off by saying I haven't been feeling so great about my appearance lately, just not as confident as I normally am. I wanted to feel really pretty and confidant for our romantic evening. I only had to work half day so I went and got my hair done (which for the first time I got exactly what I wanted and asked for!) and then went home and got ready for our date. I was going to wear nice black pants and a blue shirt that Frank loves but I was feeling pretty and decided to try on a dress I haven't ever worn. I put it on and felt very very pretty and knew that Frank would be very happy when I got home.
Needless to say when he got home he had a lot of very nice things to say. Back to the evening. We decided that we would eat at one of our favorite places. When we were driving up I noticed about 30 police cars and told Frank "look at all the police cars" he told me "they are probably having a fund raiser for the swat officer that passed away." I thought ok that could be, but I wasn't convinced. We got out of the car and started walking we looked up and saw a police helicopter flying around, just then a voice said "return to your vehicles and leave at once!" We got a little freaked out just after the police in the helicopter spoke and bunch of people started running and screaming. We both looked at each other and said "let's go." We had no idea what was going on but it didn't look or sound good. We got in the car and started exiting the parking lot, all of a sudden 20 cop cars pulled up very quickly they get out of their cars with riot gear on and started running. We were freaked out and still had no idea what was going on. We saw some girls running back to the car and we asked them what was going on, they told us that Ryan Shecklear was at tilly's signing pictures." For those of you who don't know who Ryan is he is a young skateboarder. He is very very popular and has his own show on MTV. We both definatly thought there had to be more than that to have all those cops there and a helicopter telling everyone to leave. We left the Long Beach Town Center and were talking about what we would like to have now. We went to the Macaroni Grill and the evening was looking up, little did we know it was about to get worse. We were told the wait was an hour wait so we waited it only ended up being a 15 minute wait we were so very excited. We sat down and ordered our drinks then our meals. We started talking about all our Valentines Days, it was super nice. Frank got his salad first and he was super super hungry so I told him t go ahead and eat it. He finished his salad and I still hadnt gotten my appetizer the waiter came to see how we were doing and I told him that my husband got his salad I was still waiting for my appetizer and if my food was almost ready I wanted to take the appetizer off. There was no point to eat both at the same time, plus Frank was done with his salad and 20 minutes had already gone by. The waiter said he would go find out what was going on. I have to say this Im not sure if it was his first day but he was an odd character. He lingered at our table every time he came to it and he repeated himself a lot!! My appetizer ended up coming right after i complained and it was gross! The waiter asked how it was and I told him Im sorry but I have had this before and it is gross. He asked me if he could get me something else so I ordered a salad. I think it was about 5 minutes later my food came to the table, but Frank's did not make it. I waited and waited while picking at my shrimp. Im not joking 20 minutes later (my food is now cold) the manager came over and said he was very sorry but what Frank ordered they ran out of 15 minutes ago. He said he was so sorry and Frank could pick something else and he would remake my meal and the dinner excluding the drinks would be free. Then the manager came back again and said "Im sorry but the second order you made we are out of as well please pick something else." We were happy about our meal being paid for but kind of confused why my diet coke and his sprite weren't included but oh well that was the least they could do. We finally got our food it was good, but we were just so frustrated by then it was hard to enjoy the meal. We made the most of it and decided to take our dessert (which was included in the meal) home and enjoy our it together. When we got the bill I noticed it was a little more than what we were told but we just both wanted to get out of there so bad that we paid the $12 something and took our dessert home. That was our romantic Valentines day dinner. Im so tired just thinking of everything that happened. On my way to work this morning I was praying that the Lord would give me a peace about last night, cause I was still a little upset with myself not speaking up and asking why I was paying more than I should have. I decided to call Macaroni Grill this morning to get the number for corporate. I appreciate the manager taking care of our meals that was the least he could do for us, but then we paid more than we were told and it just wasn't sitting well with me. The manager that answered the phone was thankfully the manager from last night, so I didn't have to explain too much more. I did tell him that I wasn't happy paying more than I was told I was supposed to. It wasn't the price I had to pay it was the principal of the situation. He again said how sorry he was and all he could think of was the waiter brought him the check before he added on the dessert. I understood that and actually would have been fine with leaving it at that, but he wasn't happy with everything so he asked me if I could come down there tomorrow so he could give me a bunch of free meals. I told him that wasn't necessary but he insisted. I accepted and told him I would come by tomorrow. When I got off the phone I did feel a peace about the situation not because we got free meals but because he understood what happened last night wasn't right and he wanted to fix it. So again I say "this could only happen to us!!"

I don't know whether to laugh or feel bad for you. LOL! I hate it when my plans work out (like you're getting ready) but no one else seems to get the memo for the perfectly planned evening.

O.K., I meant to get back to you sooner...sorry. Just copy the rules, answer the questions, and tag people. It's really pretty easy! Thanks for doing it!
